Fairview police need help finding suspects in theft of car, U-Haul trailer

A man who was just passing through town had his vehicle and attached U-Haul trailer stolen from the parking lot of a hotel he was staying at in Fairview Heights.

Detective James Mason with Fairview Heights police said officers responded to the scene at just after 8:30 a.m. Friday to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle.

When officers arrived in the area, they spoke to the victim who discovered that his vehicle, a Subaru Forester, and attached U-Haul trailer had been stolen from the parking lot.

The vehicle and trailer were recovered from the 1400 block of Angelica in St. Louis after St. Louis City Police received a report of suspicious activity in the area. The contents of the vehicle and trailer were removed and spread on the ground around the vehicle and trailer. The victim identified several pieces of electronic equipment and various items missing.

Witnesses in the area identified two males as suspects. Police did not release a detailed description of the suspects.

Witnesses also said they observed the suspects enter the car and drive away with the trailer attached. Video surveillance camera in the area also captured the theft of the vehicle.
