After a weekend of record-setting temperatures, metro-east commuters are in for a rude awakening Monday.
The high temperature on the first day of the work week will be nearly 40 degrees cooler than it was just two days ago. The mercury will peak at 44 Monday compared to 81 on Saturday and 70 on Sunday.
At 6 a.m. Monday, the temperature was hovering near the freezing mark, according to the National Weather Service, and a few snowflakes fell around the metro-east as the precipitation that hung around the area overnight moved out of town.
Clear skies moved in shortly after sunrise, with sunny conditions in the forecast the rest of the day.
