Metro-east commuters might want to bring their heavy coat Tuesday morning as they head off to work.

The temperature at 6 a.m. stood at 27 degrees, the lowest mercury reading for the area so far this fall, according to the National Weather Service.

The high Tuesday is expected to top out at 47 degrees under sunny skies. On Wednesday it the temperature expected to top out at 49 degrees. But later in the week the high is expected to reach back into the mid 50s.
