The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, starring the high-kicking Rockettes, continues through Saturday at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis.
The Rockettes are celebrating their 85th year in New York City, after their native beginnings in St. Louis in 1925 as The Missouri Rockets. Since that time, more than 72 million fans have seen their holiday performances.
While in St. Louis, the Rockettes have visited numerous hospitals and entertained the troops at Scott Air Force Base to promote their show.
In addition to the Rockettes, the show features an ensemble cast of singers and dancers and, of course, Santa Claus.
Arriving in style with Mr. Claus on the red carpet, the Rockettes were escorted by members of the Missouri company of the U.S. Coast Guard, and posed for pictures in the Peabody Lobby.
From the beginning of the show, it's a mixture of tap, jazz, ballet and the ever-famous "eye-high kicks," taking the audience on a tour of New York City and ending up in Times Square, courtesy of an onstage double decker bus and a 50-foot LED screen. From there, it's a flight to the North Pole, and a live nativity scene in Bethlehem.
Pure holiday entertainment for the entire family, hands down ... and a few legs up.
