A Fairview Heights man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon Thursday as a result of a road rage incident.
Michael J. Pasterski, 57, is accused of pointing a gun at another driver while traveling west from O'Fallon on Interstate 64, according to police. Pasterski is currently in custody at St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Fairview Heights police received a 911 call about 4 p.m. Wednesday reporting a road rage incident. The caller told a dispatcher that a man pointed a gun at him and his car as they were driving.
The caller, who was not identified by police, provided a description of the suspect's car and the direction the suspect traveled.
A short time later, a Fairview Heights patrol officer spotted the suspect and stopped him in the area of Circle Drive at East O'Fallon Drive in Fairview Heights.
The suspect was ordered from the vehicle and taken into custody. When officers attempted to handcuff the suspect, he began to resist officers and they used a Taser on him. He was then taken into custody without further resistance.
Officers discovered the suspect was in possession of a loaded handgun, cannabis and drug paraphernalia.
No one was injured in this incident.
