4 arrested in connection with East St. Louis High School burglary

— Two adults and two juveniles were arrested in connection with a burglary at East St. Louis Senior High School where several laptops were stolen.

The adults were charged Thursday with burglary and are being held at St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Joseph Spencer, 18, of 6952 Park Place in Centreville, and Antonio Patton, 18, of 745 N. 81st St. in East St. Louis, were charged in the case, according to warrants.

The names of the juvenile suspects were not released.

The 9 p.m. Tuesday burglary was recorded on a surveillance video, Detective Orlando Ward said.

"Staff at the school reviewed the video and were able to identify two of the four suspects and we were able to make quick arrests of the suspects," Ward said.

Police have not recovered the laptops.

Police were told that the suspects had been trying to sell them in the Edgemont area.

The computer have East St. Louis District 189's label on them, Ward said. Ward said if residents have information about this crime, they are urged to call the East St. Louis Police Department at 618-482-6700.
