Still not ready for civility

Published: November 17, 2012

Those of us who had hoped upon hopes that the political dust would finally settle and that civility could return to America will likely have to wait a while longer. Thanks to Sen. John McCain and others, the fragile unity of Americans is being stretched to the breaking point.

The Benghazi debacle is just that; intelligence and bureaucratic bungling at its worst. Who's specifically to blame for the four deaths of our diplomats and staff? That is what the investigations, which are still underway, will conclude. Until that conclusion, we should be united in the pursuit of the truth, not standing in a circle pointing fingers and shouting slurs like school children.

Lest McCain and his raucous cohorts forget, America lost 3,000 souls in the 9/11 attacks under a Republican administration, not just four. And lest Senator McCain forgets, there was a memo laid on President Bush's desk weeks before those attacks entitled, "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the United States." I don't recall McCain's raising such objections of incompetency then. Why is he doing it now?

For the good of our nation, this madness must stop.
