Students at Metro East Lutheran High School in Edwardsville will have a unique opportunity Monday to learn about American government.
Civics students there will be visited by U.S. Rep. John Shimkus (R-Collinsville) who was elected earlier this month to his ninth term in Congress.
In the 1980s, Shimkus was a teacher at Metro East Lutheran prior to being elected Madison County Treasurer. He was elected to Congress for the first time in 1996.
