Congratulations coach Jim Monken, who coached football for six decades.

Along with coach Carl Poelker, they both coached their last game at McKendree on Nov. 10.

I would just like to congratulate Monken on a great career. He has been an inspiration to the youth of St. Clair County but especially to the youth of East St. Louis where he coached at both Assumption High School and Lincoln High School.

I would like to express my deep gratitude for a job well done.
