Hill and Reddick pace Lancers in victory

Senior Malcolm Hill and junior Darreon Reddick scored 22 points apiece Wednesday night to lead the Belleville East Lancers to a 59-43 victory over Mahomet-Seymour in the Centralia Thanksgiving Tournament.

The win lifted the Lancers' record to 2-0. They will play two games Saturday: 11:30 a.m. vs. Jerseyville and 7:45 p.m. vs. Centralia, the marquee event of the tournament.

East trailed Mahomet-Seymour 29-28 in the third quarter, but took control with a 15-2 run.

Cahokia 77, Champaign Centennial 56

Cahokia stormed out to a 36-5 lead over the Chargers and cruised to an easy win in the Lincoln Thanksgiving Tournament.

The victory improved the Comanches to 2-0 heading into their game against Danville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Carleton Rivers led a balanced Cahokia attack with 18 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field. Vincent Jackson Jr. and Keenan Minor scored 16 points apiece and Darius Austin had 12. Jackson led all players with eight rebounds.

The Comanches shot 53 percent from the field (33-for-62). They led 44-21 at halftime and 63-31 after three quarters.

Edwardsville 98, Gateway Tech 65

In the Waterloo Round Robin, defending champion Edwardsville had no trouble disposing of Gateway Tech, of St. Louis.

The Tigers (2-0) got 24 points from senior Garret Covington, a Western Illinois recruit, and 23 points from senior Tre Harris.

Edwardsville was 18-for-21 from the field in the first half.

Harris and senior Drew Curtis each had two fouls in the second quarter and missed the majority of the period. But junior Armon Fletcher, who scored 15 points, offset their loss and the Tigers never were threatened by Gateway Tech (0-2).

Edwardsville will play Highland at 6 p.m. Friday, then close the tournament with a game against Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
