— Garden Place Assisted Living Center in Waterloo is collecting donations for a family of five who lost everything in a house fire Wednesday.

Tina Roedl with Garden Place said the family, which includes her son Bill Roedl, soon-to-be daugher-in-law Christy Youngman, and their three children, needs clothes and household items. Youngman works at the Garden Place senior living center in Columbia.

The clothes sizes needed are as follows: 6/6X and 8 for girls; 10-12 for boys; medium shirts and 8/10 pants for women; and large shirts and 32/33 pants for men.

Tina Roedl said the fire was electrical and started about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the girls' bedroom of the house on Morrison Avenue.

"We are just happy they weren't home and everybody was safe," she said.

Garden Place of Waterloo is located at 735 Columbia Ave.
