In regards to your article "Judge orders woman to wear sign: 'Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk'", published on November 13th, 2012, I understand the circumstances that drove the judge to penalize a dangerous woman publically. Aside from her $250 fee and 30 day license suspension, the outward display of her shameful behavior is what makes her punishment memorable and teaches her to observe school bus laws. Although passing a school bus on the sidewalk might seem like a harmless action to some, children's lives are at stake each time an irresponsible driver takes such risks. The areas surrounding bus stops are often filled with students and pedestrians; therefore, all drivers must take precautions and pay attention to who may be injured if they decide to break the law. Even though no one suffered injuries in this situation, the woman responsible suffered embarrassment and was an example to all of the severity of this offense.
