Belleville blotter: Party prompts fight, gunfire

Published: November 26, 2012

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

Friday

2:11 a.m. AGGRAVATED DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM/AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/BATTERY - 1800 block of Foster. Officers responded for a report of a possible home invasion. After arriving on scene it was discovered that during a house party, a fight broke out with some uninvited subjects. The fight moved out to the front yard where one subject pulled out a gun and fired one round into the ground. The subject then pointed the gun at several subjects on scene and then fired another round into the ground. Several subjects ran from the scene. The subject was gone on arrival by police. The other uninvited subjects stated they were jumped at the party; they were transported to an area hospital.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
