Well, the letter writers are livid about the results of the election in which President Obama was re-elected by the smart voters of this country. Get over it.

The Republicans lost because they chose the wrong candidates again. The Etch- a-Sketch man, Mitt Romney, couldn't keep his stances on main issues straight except for how he felt about the 47 percent of us who don't pay federal income tax. We are freeloaders. Yeah, right. And the Sarah Palin of this election, Todd Akin, opened up his mouth and ridiculous, ignorant things came out. Just like Palin in 2008, he single-handedly lost the election for Romney. It's incredible how people cannot know what goes on in a woman's body and how they feel about women's rights. Maybe now the Republicans can get off the only agenda they have had for four years (making our president a one-term president) and get down to the business of solving the problems of this country. Or maybe not. Maybe they will just worry about gays, religion and gun rights. Time will tell. Michael Ray Dillier Collinsville
