GRANITE CITY — A female victim was being treated at a local hospital following a shooting Wednesday night, according to police.

Lt. Richard Werths, with the Granite City Police Department, said the shooting occurred about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Granite City Housing Complex, formerly known as Kirkpatrick Homes, in the 2600 block of David Morgan.

The 27-year-old female victim was shot once and airlifted to a St. Louis hospital. She is listed in stable condition.

A male suspect was taken into custody. Charges are expected to be filed Thursday.
