GREED AT ITS GREATEST was demonstrated by The Belleville News-Democrat on Thanksgiving Day this year and will return on Christmas Day.

BND readers were charged an extra $1.50 for the months of November and December for a "special edition" of the newspaper. The special edition was 1.5 inches of trash masqueraded as advertisements, more fill for the recycle bins or landfills.

This is a double whammy, the advertisers pay to print the ads and have them inserted into the newspaper, and then BND also charges us extra for this trash. It is a true example of good old American Greed.
