A 47-year-old Granite City man was charged with aggravated battery Thursday after allegedly shooting a 27-year-old woman Wednesday night.
The victim remained in satisfactory condition Thursday, police said.
Timothy N. Brown was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, both felonies, by the Madison County State's Attorney.
The shooting was shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 2600 block of David Morgan Drive, the street on which Brown resides in Granite City.
The female victim was described by police as an acquaintance of Brown. She was shot once and remained at an undisclosed St. Louis hospital.
Brown remained in custody at the Granite City Police Department pending the posting of bail or transfer to the Madison County Jail. Bail was set by Judge Richard Tognarelli at $100,000.
