Stay and work for change

Published: November 29, 2012

I would like to supplement information in a recent letter by Charlotte Kilzer.

She said that people in 21 states have signed petitions to secede from the union due to the re-election of President Obama. She also said that such an idea is ridiculous, and I totally agree. Not only is it foolishly ridiculous, but it is also unlawful.

One of the issues that was settled in the war that was fought 150 years ago, the Civil War, is that no state has the right to secede from the union. And let us never lose the victories that were won in one of our most costly wars.

Like Kilzer, I, too, voted for Obama's opponent, but it is too late to do anything about the election now. However, we can, and I hope that we will do whatever necessary to see that Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton will not be our next president. Perhaps there is still hope left, but that remains to be seen.
