Members of the military can get a free Christmas tree Friday at Scott Air Force Base.
Trees for Troops will host its 7th annual tree giveaway at 4 p.m. at Warrior Park near the base Airman Leadership School pavilion. There military personnel can choose from trees that are between five and seven feet tall on a first come, first served basis. Active military members in ranks E-1 through E-4 have priority,
Christmas tree farmers-members of the National Christmas Tree Association and families around the country have donated thousands of fresh trees to the Trees for Troops program.
Throughout early December, more than 18,000 trees will be delivered by FedEx Freight to military families at 60 military bases across the country.
