ST. LOUIS — The New York Yankees will be among the St. Louis Cardinals' opponents in spring training when they make their first visit to Jupiter, Fla., since 2006.
The Cardinals on Friday released their 32-game Grapefruit League schedule, with the visit by the Yankees on March 7 serving as the highlight. The Yankees last played at Roger Dean Stadium on March 17, 2006.
St. Louis also will play the Yankees on March 11 in Tampa.
The Cardinals' spring-training slate begins Feb. 23 against their co-tenants at Roger Dean Stadium, the Miami Marlins. It ends March 29 against the New York Mets in Port St. Lucie.
The regular season begins April 1 at Arizona.
The Cardinals will play 16 home games and 16 road games in spring training, including four against the Marlins in which they are the "visiting" team. That means St. Louis will play 20 of its 32 games at Roger Dean Stadium.
St. Louis and Miami will meet eight times, including a St. Patrick's Day matchup March 17.
Cardinals pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to Jupiter on Feb. 12, with their first workout set for Feb. 13. The remainder of the roster will report Feb. 15 and work out for the first time Feb. 16.
Tickets to spring-training games in Jupiter will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Jan. 19. Fans may purchase tickets at Roger Dean Stadium's box office or via the Internet at www.cardinals.com or www.rogerdeanstadium.com.
Spring training season tickets are on sale by calling (561) 775-1818. Single-game tickets ticket prices to spring-training games remain the same: $28 for field box, $26 for loge box, $15 for bleachers and $15 for berm seating (sold on game day only).
Saturdays and Sundays are considered "super premium" games. The games against the Boston Red Sox (Feb. 24) and the Yankees also are considered super-premium games and will be subject to an additional fee on each ticket.
