An East St. Louis man pleaded guilty in federal court last week to aiding and abetting kidnapping, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen R. Wigginton.
Jevon M. Jenkins is scheduled for sentencing on March 25. He faces a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to court documents, Jenkins and others assaulted a Cahokia man in July in East St. Louis. Jenkins then aided a co-defendant in confining the Cahokia man in a vehicle and driving him across the Popular Street Bridge into Missouri.
The case was investigated by the cooperative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Illinois State Police, the Columbia Police Department and the East St. Louis Police Department.
