The Cardinals were rumored to be interested in Mets free agent outfielder earlier this week. But it looks to be unlikely that they'll be able to strike a deal with Scott Hairston.

According to a report from ESPN, Hairston said it is "probable" that he is going to re-sign with New York.

At least seven teams are believed to have expressed interest in Hairston. But reports indicate the Mets are the favorite not only because of familiarity -- but also because they have the most playing time to offer.
