Belleville blotter: Battery, trespassing and gunfire

Published: December 5, 2012

The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:

TUESDAY

7:44 p.m. BATTERY/CRIMINAL TRESPASS/SOLICITING - 5400 block of N. Belt West. Dion Strong, 22, and Alethea Tony, 25, were soliciting without a permit. The resident/victim, a 33-year-old-male, engaged in a disturbance with Strong. During the disturbance the victim fell down and was injured. The victim also allegedly was battered. During the battery the victim's wife passed him a gun and in the process the gun accidentally went off into the carpeted floor. The solicitors left and were stopped and identified. Strong was arrested for battery, trespassing and soliciting without a permit. Tony was arrested for soliciting without a permit. Both were transported to headquarters and were released after posting bond.

Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
