The following report appeared in the most recently released crime blotter by the Belleville Police Department:
WEDNESDAY
8:52 p.m. ATTEMPTED HOME INVASION/RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY - 200 block of Freedom Drive. The victim, a 41-year-old female, reported being woke up by a loud noise inside her residence. Her son/victim 2, a 13-year-old, told her a male subject had barged into his room, pointed a handgun at him, then fled the residence. The victim discovered damage to her front door and called police. Officers responded to the area and located a subject matching the description. Officers attempted to stop the subject. The subject fled and was caught a short distance away. Victim 2 was transported to the scene and made a positive identification. The suspect, a 23-year-old male, was transported to headquarters, where he is being held pending further investigation.
Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination. For more police blotter news, read tomorrow's print edition of the Belleville News-Democrat and return to bnd.com.
