A 20-year-old Glen Carbon man has been charged with battering his girlfriend's toddler.

Jay M. Miller was charged with aggravated battery to a child Thursday by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Edwardsville Police Department, which was contacted by Cardinal Glennon Hospital in St. Louis Tuesday in reference to a possible aggravated battery to a child report.

The victim, a 23-month-old, was taken to the hospital by the mother, after receiving advice from the family doctor, according to police. The extent of the child's injuries are unknown.

Miller is currently being held at Madison County Jail. His bond was set at $150,000.
