A Granite City motorist was rushed to the hospital after a one-car crash at the intersection of Pontoon and Nameoki roads.

The accident happened at about 1 a.m. Friday and left the passenger side door of the driver's Mercury Grand Marquis badly smashed in.

No information was available about what caused the accident or the driver's condition early Friday morning. The motorist's identity has not yet been released.
