Singler knows how to be a team player

Published: December 8, 2012

Regarding the article, "Pistons rookie Singler relies on hustle and basketball IQ to succeed," Detroit Pistons rookie Kyle Singler is the definition of a true team player. Basketball has evolved into a selfish sport and Kyle gives hope to the generation that knows the team concept of the game. He does not score a lot of points. Kyle even states that it is not about how many points he scores in a game.

The NBA lockout forced him to play in Spain. I believe that all great players could learn from the players who play overseas. The men who play over there are not as athletic, but they play as a team and they use their brain to play. They know the game very well. Playing overseas could teach players to play as a team instead of trying to do everything themselves.

As a lover basketball, it is heartbreaking to see all ages playing selfishly and not as a team. I remember watching Singler play at Duke, and my father pointing out all the little things he did to help out his team. I hope players will start to realize that playing as a team will benefit them more than playing selfish.
