GRANITE CITY — Two people were arrested in connection with alcohol-related offenses after crashing their vehicle into a Granite City bar. The crash happened Thursday morning at Patty McD's Tavern, located in the 5500 block of Maryville Road.
Darryl D. Bennett, 20, of Granite City was arrested in connection with the following: driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license suspended, leaving the scene of a traffic crash, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Kira L. Peppers, 19, of Granite City was arrested in connection with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a traffic crash at just before 8 a.m. Thursday. Deputies arrived and determined a vehicle struck the front door of Patty McD's Tavern.
The crash caused significant damage to the business and the suspect vehicle fled the scene, according to police. Deputies located the suspect vehicle a short distance from the scene of the crash.
The driver was identified as Bennett, and Peppers was a passenger in the vehicle. Both Bennett and Peppers were transported to Madison County Jail.
No one was injured in the crash.
