A 23-year-old Belleville man has been charged in connection with a home invasion.
Bryant P. Johnson of 15 Friendship Drive was charged Monday with home invasion, a class X felony, by the St. Clair County state's attorney's office.
Belleville police responded to an attempted home invasion/residential burglary at about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Freedom Drive.
The victim reported being woke up by a loud noise inside her residence. Her 13-year-old son told her a man had barged into his room, pointed a handgun at him and then fled the residence, according to police. The victim discovered damage to her front door and called police.
Officers responded to the area and located a subject matching the description. Officers attempted to stop the subject, who fled but was caught a short distance away.
Johnson's bond was set at $100,000. If convicted, he faces six to 30 years in prison.
