Touched by the story of a mother's love

Published: December 10, 2012

My heart was touched by your recent article on the Lang-Schock family. The woman found out within the span of a few days that she had breast cancer and was also, surprisingly, pregnant.

The family decided to choose treatments and made medical decisions with the safety of the unborn baby in mind, even though the life of the mother could potentially be in jeopardy. The path they chose was far more difficult for Michelle Lang-Schock, but after her mastectomy, her main concern was ensuring her baby's heart was still beating. Upon confirming the heartbeat via ultrasound, she cried out, "Thank God."

The Lang-Schocks decisions are in sharp contrast to the callous disregard some people have for the unborn child. Some decide to abort their babies for convenience, poor timing or even gender selection. Sadly, even our president supports these ungodly decisions.

I admire this courageous family and pray for God's blessing on their new baby. Perhaps you could do a follow up story after the baby is born next May.
