Pontoon Beach was the only place Illinois State Police could get alcohol sold to a minor during recent stings.
In Dupo, Millstadt, Smithton, Freeburg and Belleville, 24 locations were surveyed on Friday. Not one of the St. Clair County businesses would sell alcohol to the minor conducting the test for the troopers.
In Pontoon Beach, Granite City and Madison, 22 businesses were checked the night of Nov. 27. Three businesses were ticketed for selling to a minor in Pontoon Beach: Phillip's 66, 3202 South Illinois 111; Leroy's A & J Market, 4089 Pontoon Road; and BP, 1301 East Chain of Rocks Road.
The purpose of the Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement details is to determine which businesses might be selling alcoholic beverages to minors and stop the activity.
