Former Illinois Miss Basketball Michelle Hasheider-Burianek heads the list of local inductees for the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Class of 2013.
Then known as Michelle Hasheider, the all-state guard averaged 19 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 4 steals while leading Okawville (32-2) to the 1994 Class A state championship. The Rockets also finished second in 1993.
With Hasheider scoring a school-record 2,660 points as a four-year starter under coach Kathy Lanter, the Rockets were 118-12.
Hasheider went on to play at the University of Colorado and now is the girls varsity basketball coach at Okawville.
Ceremonies are set for April 27 at the Illinois State University Student Union in Normal. The IBCA's new Hall of Fame location is going to be the Danville Convention Center.
Others from the metro-east being inducted into the Hall of Fame are career coach Ken Wildhaber of Highland and longtime area official Dave Collins from Bethalto.
Two of Edwardsville High girls basketball coach Lori Blade's former teams -- the 2001 and 2002 Carrollton High state championship squads -- both are scheduled for induction.
Longtime Centralia Sentinel sportswriter Randy List will be inducted in the media category. East St. Louis is also well represented with Joe Bates, Harvey Cloyd, Sr., Bobby Cole, Sr., R.J. Krause, Russell Krause and Don Stovall all being inducted as Friends of Basketball along with Granite City's Dan Manoyan.
