Madison County coroner's office closes three cases

— The Madison County coroner has announced its conclusions in three recent deaths.

* Isaac Massey, 38, of Granite City, died of a drug overdose on Oct. 21. The coroner's office ruled it an accidental death caused by heroin, aggravating pre-existing heart disease.

* Geraldine Davis, 62, of Granite City, died as a result of blunt trauma caused by a car accident. She was the passenger in a pickup truck struck by another car Oct. 20 on Interstate 270. The coroner's office ruled it an accidental death.

* Dennis D. Goebel, 62, of Dorsey, was killed in an accident on the job as a Fort Russell Township Highway Department employee. He was struck by one of the department trucks on Oct. 3 while performing culvert repair in Meadowbrook, east of Bethalto. The coroner's office has ruled it an accidental death.

The cases were closed by the coroner's office without going to a coroner's inquest.
