Unseasonably high temperatures and sunny skies are on tap for the metro-east Thursday.

The mercury will reach 55 degrees in the metro-east, according to the National Weather Service. That's about 10 degrees above the usual high temperature for the middle of December in the St. Louis area.

The high temperature is expected to remain in the 50s through Saturday. On Sunday it will slip back into the 40s.
