EAST ST. LOUIS — After several months of investigating a suspected drug house, members of the Metropolitan Enforcement Group of Southern Illinois and Illinois State Police on Wednesday served a search warrant at a residence in the 1700 block of North 46th Street.
Joe Beliveau, commander of MEGSI, would not provide specific details but he said evidence of narcotic distribution and firearm possession was seized from the residence.
"The Illinois State Police SWAT team and law enforcement agents with MEGSI served the search warrant at 3:40 p.m.," Belliveau said.
Several children who were not school age were inside the residence, with an adult female and male when police arrived.
"Both adults and an additional adult who was in the area and also a suspect in the investigation, were taken into custody, interviewed and released pending formal charges," Beliveau said.
