MILLSTADT — A father found his 49-year-old son severely beaten Wednesday night at his home near Millstadt.
The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to a St. Louis hospital. He remains hospitalized. His current condition is unknown.
According to St. Clair County Sheriff's Department, Deputy Frank Bennett responded to a possible home invasion on Portland Street in unincorporated Millstadt at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim's father told police he was called by his son to come over because someone broke into his house and beat him. When he arrived, his son had serious injuries so his father called 911. Emergency medical services transported the victim to a St. Louis area Hospital.
It is not clear if the incident happened inside or outside of the residence, police said. Investigators have not been able to speak with the victim, due to his injuries.
"We are asking the public's help with this incident," said Sheriff Rick Watson.
Anyone with information is asked to call Investigative Sergeant Gerald Brown at 277-3505, ext. 5309.
