Seniors Johnny McCray and Deshawn Munson combined for 25 points to pace a balanced East St. Louis attack as the Flyers defeated Chicago De La Salle 60-54 on Saturday at the Midwest Showdown Shootout at Lindenwood University-St. Charles.
Outscored 23-10 in the third quarter, East St. Louis used a 20-11 edge in the final period to post the come-from-behind victory.
A bruising 6-foot-4 250-pound senior, McCray led East St. Louis with 15 points, while Munson chipped in with 10.
A total of 10 East St. Louis players scored at least two points.
Columbia 51, Red Bud 39
Erika Varel and Savannah Wittenbrink combined for 43 points as Columbia rolled to a 51-39 win over Red Bud in the title game of the Gibault Candy Cane Classic.
The Eagles (9-3) ran out to a 17-4 lead after a quarter and were never seriously challenged by the cold-shooting Musketeers.
Varel paced the Eagles with 23 points, while the 5-11 Wittenbrink added 20.
Alli Ringering paced Red Bud with 15 points.

The Rockets built leads of 18-2 after one quarter and 30-11 at halftime as they rolled past the overmatched Panthers.
