Belleville police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Sunday night at the Gas Mart at the intersection of South Belt East and Freeburg. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the gas station located in the 400 block of South Belt East. The suspect who armed with a handgun forced the employees into the back room, took their property and forced them to empty the cash register.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot northbound on Freeburg Avenue before officers arrived on scene, according to police. The suspect was described as a black male in his mid-20s dressed all in black wearing a ski mask.
