Westbound Interstate 64 will be reduced to one lane Wednesday between 18th and 9th streets in East St. Louis, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The closure will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 5 p.m., weather permitting.
These lane restrictions are needed to widen the shoulder for future traffic lanes for the New Mississippi River Bridge.
Delays are expected, and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes.
