A 19-year-old Belleville man was charged Wednesday with attempted residential burglary, a class 2 felony, by St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office.

Deravion D. Allmon, of the 600 block of Ganim Drive, was charged in connection with an attempted home burglary Monday in the 600 block of Plankway Court in Shiloh.

Officers responded to a call of two males attempting to break into the front door of a home, according to police.

As the suspects attempted to make entry through the front door, they discovered the resident was home, so they fled the scene. The homeowner gave dispatch a description of the two suspects, police said.

When officers arrived in the area, Allmon was taken into custody. The second suspect remained at large Thursday afternoon.

Allmon was held in the St. Clair County Jail on $40,000 bail. If convicted, he could face three to seven years in prison.
