Emergency personnel responded to the scene of a two-vehicle traffic crash on eastbound Interstate 64 near O'Fallon during the Friday evening rush hour.
O'Fallon Fire Chief Brent Saunders said a vehicle on the side of the road due to a mechanical break down was struck by another vehicle near mile marker 17.
No one was ejected from either vehicle as was initially reported. However, one person was transported to a hospital, according to Saunders.
O'Fallon and Shiloh police responded to the accident until Illinois State Police arrived. O'Fallon Fire Department was on scene helping to direct traffic.
