Dancing in Lebanon's winter wonderland

Published: December 21, 2012

I visited the Winter Wonderland of Lights in Lebanon three times in a week. If that seems excessive, you need to know the impetus behind returning so often. It is an adorable 6-year-old boy who wants to "dance with the dancing lights, Gamma."

This display, located in Hoerner Park, is a combination of a high-tech light display in sync with music (tune your car radio to 90.5FM); electro art scenes including a train, ice skaters and a giant Santa; and old-fashioned wooden cutouts depicting the Nativity, Santa's workshop, a penguin village and more. With a million lights along the 1.5-mile road, it's an adventure each time we go to spot our favorites. My compliments -- and thanks -- to the organizers and volunteers who dedicate themselves to putting on this show. It is truly a gift to the whole area.

The suggested donation is $5/car and I have happily paid that each time. Not even Scrooge or the Grinch could fail to feel the Christmas spirit here.
