Belleville woman killed in crash; Cahokia man in critical condition

— A 57-year-old woman killed in a two-vehicle collision was identified Saturday as a Belleville resident.

Latricia Wilborn, of the 100 block of Kensington, was the victim. She was a rear seat passenger in a Chrysler 300 that was traveling north on 25th Street at Cleveland Avenue on Friday night.

St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone said Wilborn was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chrysler 300 collided with a Cadillac Escalade about 9:30 p.m.

One of the individuals who was rushed to a hospital was the 25-year-old driver of the Cadillac Escalade that is believed to have crossed the center line from the southbound lane on 25th Street into the northbound lane causing the collision, Police Chief Michael Floore said.

The Cadillac driver, whose name was not released, is in critical condition, Floore said. He is from Cahokia.

"We are still investigating the accident. But preliminary findings indicate the driver of the Cadillac appears to have crossed the center line," Floore said.

The driver and front seat passenger in Wilborn's car were taken to an area hospital where they received medical attention and were released, Floore said.

A passenger in the Cadillac was also treated at an area hospital and released.

The Illinois State Police accident reconstruction team was called to the scene. It could take up to six or eight weeks before their report is available.
