— Police Chief Michael Floore said an autopsy was conducted Thursday on a 1-year-old girl but no signs of trauma were found and the investigation continues.

The girl died after relatives told police she started spitting up and the smell of bleach was coming from her mouth.

Police have not released the name of the victim.

Floore said the Illinois Juvenile Death Investigation Team of St. Clair County is handling the investigation.

Floore said investigators are waiting for toxicology test results to be completed.

Police went to a home in the 1300 block of North 38th Street after someone at the residence there placed a 911 call and the hung up on Christmas Eve, Floore said.

The child was rushed to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis, where she died.
