Commuters who frequently travel across the Martin Luther King Bridge may want to take an alternative route next week.
A daytime lane closure will occur on the westbound MLK Bridge on Jan. 2, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. The lane closure is needed to perform bridge repairs.
Weather permitting, the MLK Bridge will be closed westbound at 9 a.m. and will be re-opened at 3 p.m.
The eastbound lanes of the MLK Bridge will remain open to traffic during this work.
