Former Swansea Trustee Skip Kernan has enlisted a foreign letter-writing agent from Fairmont City to repeat his claim that my position at St. Clair Township is really a part-time job.
Kernan keeps saying that since most township supervisors are part time, St. Clair Township's supervisor should be part time. He fails to mention that St. Clair Township functions like a large sewer district, not like a typical township. St. Clair Township has about 9,000 sewer customers and the typical township has none.
When Kernan was challenged at a board meeting to provide evidence to support his claim, he first tried to compare St. Clair Township to a township that has one-third the sewer customers. That did not work. Next he said that as a result of consulting with the last two St. Clair Township supervisors, he concluded that the supervisor's job should be part time. When it was pointed out that both of those supervisors had full-time positions, Kernan changed gears and said the job had changed since then. To illustrate the change, he said that back then there were a lot more employees and the township passed out cheese once a month. Back then is about four years ago. It turns out that back then there were seven full-time employees and today there are six. Cheese distribution ended about 20 years ago.
As we approach the April 9 election, you can expect to hear more tales from Kernan. Just think cheese when you hear them.
