Former Cardinals OF Andrew Brown inks with Mets

Former Cardinals outfielder Andrew Brown, 28, has signed a minor league contract with the Rockies.

Brown batted .182 for the 2011 World Series Champion Redbirds, playing in 11 games while sporting number 64. He scored one run and drove in three. He had a double but no homers.

Brown was waived by the Cardinals in October and was claimed by the Rockies. He played in 6 games for Colorado in 2012 and batted .232 with five homers and 11 RBIs. Last season in Class AAA Brown hit .308 with 24 homers for Colorado Springs. He's a career .282 hitter over six minor league seasons.

The Mets contract includes an invitation to spring training.
