Caseyville police arrested six people on driving under the influence charges, seven people for driving on a suspended or revoked license and three people with outstanding warrants during a holiday season special patrol.
The "Drive to Survive" campaign was run with an Illinois State Police grant and focused on night time patrols because that's when people are most likely to drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
During the special patrol, 14 citations were issued for Failure to Wear Seat Belt and 42 tickets were issued for various other violations. According to Patrolman Gerard Spratt, three of the six DUI arrests were felony charges due to the suspects' prior DUI arrests.
Another special enforcement patrol will be conducted by Caseyville police in March.
