East St. Louis and St. Louis County police on Monday were still searching for a woman whose baby was found abandoned in a St. Louis County apartment building.
Police are seeking Ebony Jackson, 30, who is originally from East St. Louis and currently lives in Oklahoma. On Sunday police canvassed the area around the apartment where her baby was found.
Jackson's aunt, Krisha Wilkins, said the baby's father returned to the St. Louis area on Sunday night and is awaiting paternity test results so he can claim his 3-month-old son, Donovan Prom.
Breckenridge Hills, Mo., police reported the 3-month-old on Friday was left in a hallway in the apartment building in his car seat with a full bottle of milk. The child was in good health, police said.
Jackson left her home in Oklahoma on Wednesday morning and drove to St. Louis and then to East St. Louis to show her baby to relatives.
Wilkins said the family is worried that Jackson suffered a medical problem or met with foul play, because it is out of character for her to take off and that she never would have abandoned her baby. They are asking for anyone with information about Jackson's disappearance to call police.
Jackson is a black female about 5-foot, 3-inches to 5-foot, 4-inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. Wilkins said Jackson has a tattoo on her lower back that says "Laugh now, cry later," and some clown faces. She was driving an off-white, 2004 Mitsubishi Galant with Colorado plates.
