Commuters who travel on Interstate 64 through East St. Louis may want to find an alternative route this week as construction will reduce it to one lane from 18th Street to Ninth Street, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The one-lane restriction will impact eastbound traffic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and westbound traffic from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
IDOT officials expect significant delays and ask motorists to be patient, reduce speed and use additional caution when traveling through this work zone.
